Hours Of Operation

Our Pet Spa is open from 7:30 - 7:00 Monday-Thursday, 7:30-5:30 on Friday, and 7:30 - 4:00 on Saturday. On Sunday we have discharges only for pre-paid clients from 3 - 6PM. Monday through Thursday pets may check in up until 4:30 PM, Friday they must check in by 3:30, and Saturday by 3:00 in order to allow our staff to do a proper pre-stay physical, fill out paperwork, and receive your instructions.

Registration

We require that our Pet Spa Registration Form (down-loadable from this site under the "Forms" tab) be completed for each pet. As this may take some time, you might think of filling it out prior to your arrival. Besides the pet's and owner's name and address, the contract provides us with important information such as the vaccine status, services desired (including any medical services), medical alerts, feeding information, and emergency phone numbers (we would like three if possible, and a cell phone number would be great!)

New Residents

If your pet has never stayed with us, we require, at no charge, a short interview with you and your pet prior to its stay. In this way we can get a physical, medical, and behavioral history, check on your pet's vaccine status, learn about your pet's dietary and/or medical needs, determine what sort of accommodation might be most suitable, and acquaint you with our various services.

Vaccines

In order to stay with us, your pet must be current on its vaccinations or have had a positive vaccine titer performed no more than a year previous. Canines are required to have a fecal examination within 3 months of boarding and have up to date rabies, distemper/parvo, and bordetella vaccines. Felines must have up to date rabies and feline distemper vaccines. Ferrets must have up to date rabies vaccines. We do board pets for folks that are not otherwise clients of the Animal Hospital, so make sure you have your vet FAX your pet's medical records to us at 203-222-8601 prior to bringing your pet to the Pet Spa.

Serious Medical Conditions

It is our policy not to keep severely debilitated pets, pets with a history of seizures, or pets needing insulin injections in the Pet Spa facility itself. Accommodations for these pets may be reserved in the Hospital section of our facility. Pets who are obviously ill and/or have a contagious disease will not be admitted to the Pet Spa, but will be kept in our hospital isolation ward at an additional charge.

Accommodations

Canines are kept in spacious indoor double or single suites, or if they are of a smaller variety they may stay in one of our single or double condo accommodations. All rooms come with a resting bench and/or fluffy bedding. We provide all geriatric dogs with special non-slip floor mats to aid them in getting up and down. Residents are hand-walked outside in our fenced Pet Spa paddock and/or enjoy some fresh air on the "covered outdoor runs" at least twice a day. Felines live in a kitty condo complex with a carpeted exercise sunroom complete with cat furniture, and a picture window for bird watching. Each feline resident receives fresh towel service (you know how cats love to sleep on your clean laundry!) and each condo has either two shelves for perching or a special shelf and hidey house for those more timid.

Meals

If you desire, you may bring your pet's own food, or we will provide your pet with ROYAL CANIN Veterinary Diet™ canine INTESTINAL HE™. We feed ROYAL CANIN INTESTINAL HE™ to aid in reduction of diarrhea due to the possible stresses of boarding as well as it is a highly digestible, palatable, complete, and balanced dog food. We feed felines Fancy Feast canned diet in various flavors. We prefer not feed dry cat food as we feel that the additional carbohydrates in these preparations may increase the incidence of diabetes in cats who by nature are obligate carnivores, although we will provide dry food if requested.

Belongings

We provide a special safety identification collar for your pet. Please take your own collar and leash with you. We also provide washable toys and bedding. We do not accept toys or bedding due to the fact that they may be dirtied or destroyed by the pet as well as they may be lost in the wash if they require cleaning. As a result we will not be held responsible for nor can we guarantee the return of your pets personal belongings.

Amenities

For a small additional fee your dog can have daily individual playtimes one-on-one with a staff member, or, if your pet likes company, it can enjoy a social hour with up to three other friends. Your cat can lounge in the sun in our "kitty gym" where he or she can climb and relax on our special cat furniture. Also at an additional charge, residents can have a Go Home Fresh Bath or spend a day with our groomer (provided that you have made an appointment). We even offer teeth brushing.

Reservations

Please call the Pet Spa receptionist by pressing ext.17 during the announcement to make your reservation. Remember that during the holidays we are usually full and in order to avoid disappointment, you should try to make your reservation well in advance for these popular times. We also charge a higher rate for holidays. We look forward to seeing you!
